The field of Otorhinolaryngology has advanced by leaps and bounds in the past few decades.

Minimally invasive surgical approaches and newer technologies and treatment modalities are constantly being developed and refined. Our department at Ramaiah Medical College is well equipped to manage routine and emergency ENT services round the clock. In keeping with the vision of our institution, we strive to maintain the highest standard of patient care. Our dedicated faculty are not only involved in clinical work but are also entrusted the responsibility of teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students

In addition to a strong clinical focus, our department has been highly active in teaching, training, and outreach programs. We provide unsurpassed clinical and surgical training to our residents who also regularly take part in General and School health camps under the supervision of the faculty.

The entire department was highly involved in clinical work during the COVID pandemic, during which time our faculty and residents were posted in the wards and ICUs and also performed endoscopic sinus surgeries and other emergency procedures on COVID positive patients. Our department's surgical outcomes in patients with Rhino-orbital mucormycosis were highly encouraging and we continue to see most of these patients doing well on follow up visits.

We are also credited with conducting one of the best Cadaveric dissection workshops in Endoscopic sinus surgery and Anterior Skull base surgery and temporal bone dissection in India, which is attended by delegates from all over the country. In addition to publications in reputed journals from our department, we also collaborated with IISc, Bangalore on a web based screening tool for COVID diagnosis which has been accepted for publication in a renowned International journal.

It is heartening to note the progress we have made in the past few years, with the support and encouragement of our management and look forward to taking this department to greater heights in the years to come.
