• Vikram Gowda, won 8 Gold & 2 Silvers and an Individual Championship in Swimming Competition at AFMC, Pune
• Champions of RGUHS state championship in badminton held at Fr. Muller Medical College Mangalore in June 2022
• Champions of RGUHS state Women’s Volleyball Championship held at Basaveshwara Medical College Chitradurga, June 2022.
• Students of 3rd year MBBS, won 1st place out of 70 teams at CMC Vellore in September 2022 in the Pre and Paraclinical quiz. Congratulations to Karthik Yadavalli, Arun Ram Ramakrishnan and Vignesh Prakash
• Runners up in the Football Tournament held by St John’s Medical College in Bangalore in September 2022

• Pravallika Notu attended the Medical Sciences Summer School Programme on Oncology in Groningen, the Netherlands, from July 6 to July 13, 2022.
• Pranav Arun attended the Medical Sciences Summer School Programme on Global Health in Groningen, the Netherlands, from July 3 to July 10, 2022.
• Anurag Badiger from 9th term MBBS won the Gold medal in RGUHS Intercollegiate powerlifting competition, totaling 555 kgs held at Laksmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy Mangalore on 9th November 2022.

Dept/ Faculty Achievements

Anatomy

• Dept. of Anatomy and Neurosurgery organized a National Level CME on Neuroanatomy.
• The department also conducted a National Anatomy quiz competition.
• Voluntary Body Donation - Total number of registrations till date: 6591.

Physiology

• Coordinated International Yoga day on June 21st.
• Conducted a National Level CME in “Electro diagnostic techniques in Neurophysiology and their clinical relevance”

Bio-Chemistry

• Organized 29th Annual Conference of Association of Medical Biochemists of India in July 2022
• Workshop on Molecular Diagnostics on Karyotyping and FISH was held in collaboration with Cytogenetic and FISH division at RMC

Community Medicine

• Dr. Lalitha, Prof. &HOD, Community Medicine, conducted external evaluation of NTEP services in Bihar in June 2022.
• Organized a Public health talk on ‘Leprosy Eradication - Myth or Reality’ in December 2022 at Ramaiah Medical College.

Cardiology

• Conducted a workshop on interventions in chronic total occlusion of coronary arteries on 9th July 2022. Included guest lecture and live case demonstration by Dr. Anand Gnanaraj from Apollo hospital Chennai.
• Successfully performed 5th percutaneous aortic valve replacement under LA at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital

Endocrinology

• World Thyroid Day was observed in May 2022. A CME was organized. Three first year’s DM Endocrinology residents have received ESI grant for their projects this year.
• Dr. Pramila Kalra , Prof. & HOD, Endocrinology launched her book at International SAFES meeting at Kathmandu.

General Surgery

• Dr. Sandeep, final year postgraduate student of General Surgery was awarded 1st prize in the scientific paper presentation in Bangalore Surgical society monthly clinical meeting held on 16th November 2022.

Medicine

• In collaboration with the Hospital Infection Control Committee & Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee organised CME on “Antimicrobials Aware – status & Action Plan” and organized a Walkathon on ‘Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together’ on 19th November 2022 at Ramaiah Medical College

Neurosciences

• Team of Neurosurgeons led by Dr. Sunil Furtado were invited by the Tanzanian Government to set up and functionalize their Neuro Cath Lab. They also established a tie up with the largest health care institute of Tanzania Muhimbli National Hospital.
• Dr. Shabari Girishan, Associate Professor. Neurosurgery was the guest speaker for The National Epilepsy Day Programme at JNMC College Belgaum

Ophthalmology

• Dr. Ananth Bhandary, Prof. & HOD, Ophthalmology was conferred ‘Sushruth Samman’ in 5th National Assembly Forum of Ophthal Prof of India (FOPI) 2022, at Chattisgarh State on 2nd & 3rd April 2022

Oncology

• Dr. Santosh Kumar D, Dept. of Medical Oncology was invited as a speaker at the International Association of Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON 2023) from 10th to 12th February 2023 at NIMHANS, Bengaluru. He delivered a lecture on Transfusion practices in hematological malignancies implications for palliative care professionals

OBG

• Dr. Jyothi G.S, Prof. Dept. of OBG was a member of SDDP Committee for the annual BSOG PG CME in July 2022 in Bengaluru. Moderated a case discussion on ‘Fibroid Uterus’ and also participated as a faculty for the shoulder dystocia drill
• Dr. Nivedita Reshme, Asst. Prof, OBG, Ramaiah Medical College was felicitated on the occasion of women’s day for her achievement in sports at People Tree Hospital with gender equality and breaking the barrier as the theme

Orthopaedics

• Dr. Ajoy was appointed as the Scientific Committee Chairman to lead the next year’s 35th IFASCON at Nagpur at the 34th Annual National Conference of the Indian Foot and Ankle Society – IFASCON 22 - August 2022 at Goa

Paediatrics

• Dr. Somashekar A.R Prof. HOD, Dept. of Paediatrics, presented a paper “Randomized controlled study on effect of pranayama on pulmonary function tests in children with mild to moderate asthmatics” at the annual American Thoracic meeting 2022 at San Francisco on 18th May 2022.

Radiodiagnosis

• The 37th Annual State Level Radiology and Imaging Conference was organized by the Indian Society of Radiology and Imaging at Ramaiah Medical College.
• Dr. Umesh Prof. & HOD, Radiology was elected as President of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association

Vascular Surgery

• Organized Guest Lecture on Effect and important of compression therapy and MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) in the treatment of Lymphedema at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital on 11th May 2022.
• Dr. Sanjay C Desai, Prof. & HOD, Vascular Surgery was elevated to the post of Vice President of the National Venous Association of India.

Urology

• Dr Ramesh D won the Presidents Gold Medal By Urological Society of India
• Dr Ramesh D won the Doctors Day award during the Economic Times Conclave

Emergency Medicine

• Dr Aruna Ramesh was selected as regional faculty for BLS, ACLS by the America Heart Association

Psychiatry
