Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. It is a speciality with both medical and surgical aspects. It includes management of diseases related to skin, hair, nails, and some cosmetic problems

OPD Facilities

The department of Dermatology has OPDs on all weekdays from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm and OPD strength per day is around 100-125.

Hand and Foot and Whole body phototherapy facility is available for treatment of vitiligo, psoriasis and other skin disorders.

Minor-OT Procedures

The routine dermatology procedures available include skin biopsy, electrocautery, radiofrequency cautery and cryotherapy

We also offer cosmetology and dermatosurgery procedures such as laser hair removal, laser for tattoo removal and laser for acne scars, vitiligo surgical procedures like grafting, acne scar revision surgeries, nail surgeries and platelet-rich plasma (PRP)therapies.

Speciality Clinics

In addition to the regular OPDs, we also have speciality clinics to manage and counsel patients such as Vitiligo clinic on tuesdays, Pigmentary clinic on tuesdays, Vesiculobullous disorders clinic on wednesdays, Connective tissue disease clinics on thursdays and Psoriasis clinic on saturdays.

STD and Leprosy clinics are conducted everyday. Department of Dermatology in collaboration with NLEP distribute free Anti Leprosy medication and MCR footwear to those with foot ulcers/deformities

IP Facilities

We have a dedicated dermatology ward with around 30 beds including isolation beds.

Outreach Activities

The department of dermatology is actively involved in various camps organized by the college and also observes various international days such as Vitiligo day, Leprosy day, AIDS day and plays a major role in educating the general public about the same.

The department participate in various public awareness programmes like Vitiligo (Charma Ratha), Psoriasis and Leprosy in association with dermatological society

Teaching Facilities

We have a seminar room with digital facilities for UG and PG teaching, bed-side teaching programs and minor-OT for teaching procedural skills.

We also have a well-organized department library.

Observership Programmes

Around 2-3 students per month from Ghent University, Belgium take part in the observership programme by the department of dermatology

We also regularly conduct classes for IGNOU students.
