The Department of Gastroenterology at M.S.Ramaiah Medical College was established in 1990. The department conducts DM Gastroenterology postgraduate courseand currently has 3 DM Gastroenterology Residents every year.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. The digestive system consists of GI tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine as well as the accessory organs of digestion which include the pancreas, gallbladder, and liver.
