Department of General Surgery

Department of General Surgery is a tertiary care surgical centre. Support all subspecialties including Oncosurgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic surgery and Vascular Surgery. The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (M.B.B.S and M.S) and teaches 150 undergraduate students and guides 12 post-graduate students annually. Post-graduate intake to start with was two in the year 1991 and gradually increased to eight seats in the year 1998 and 12 from 2021.

General Surgery" is a discipline of surgery having a central core of knowledge embracing anatomy, pathology, wound healing, resuscitation, intensive care, and neoplasia.it is concerned with the comprehensive management of trauma, including musculoskeletal, hand, and head injuries etc, - the responsibility for all phases of care of the injured patient is an essential component of general surgery

Training of Basic Surgical Skills

Training of Basic Surgical Skills for UG, PG and external candidates by annually conducted workshops. UG and PG Students are taught daily in the wards, OPD and operation theaters. Didactic lecture classes help them in theoretical background.

Innovative teaching modules

Innovative teaching modules at ALC for UG and PG like Nasogastric tube insertion, Foley catheter, Intercostal tube drainage on modules and on mannequins to improve and boost simple life saving skills and procedures.

Cadaver Training Programmes

Cadaver training Programmes and live workshops for surgeons along with in-house faculty and PG. This programmes help improve our skills and portray our Institutional academic activities.
