Message From The HoD
The department of General Surgery was established at Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital in the year 1979.
The department was initially affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences till 2022 and currently under RUAS (Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences).
Our Department is a tertiary care surgical centre with 22 faculty divided between five units of General surgery and support all subspecialties including Oncosurgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic surgery and Vascular Surgery.
Currently the department has Dedicated faculty members consisting of 4 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 06 Assistant Professors and 07 Senior Residents who have got various accolades and awards in recognised academic institutions. Our faculty are recognised as post-graduate guides and trained in MEU.
Apart from the scheduled undergraduate and post graduate teaching the faculty are actively involved in research and academic activities in collaboration with universities, industries and associated with student exchange programmes with University of Illinois and Ghent University and Mount Sinai Hospital, USA.
Our students are placed all around the world in various capacities.
