About Us
The Department of Neurosurgery was started in the year 1989 at Ramaiah Hospital and has steadily grown into a premier service and crux of the Institute of Neurosciences.
Over the years, the department has earned the reputation as a centre of excellence for its evidence based clinical approach and cutting-edge surgical management of neurosurgical patients.


Highlights
- M.Ch. Neurosurgery residents are trained in basic neurosurgery, emergencies, accidents, strokes and brain hemorrhage. They also learn about deep brain simulation, pediatric brain surgery and skull-based surgery.
- The training given by the department ensures residents can sharpen their skills in identification, analysis and decision-making around surgery.
- DM Neurology (the medicinal department of Neurosurgery) students spend 3 months in the department and vice versa.
