The department of Neurology offers services in various subspecialties of neurology. Regularly we have Epilepsy clinics on Thursday, Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders clinic on Tuesday, Stroke clinic on Wednesday and dementia clinics on Friday between 10 am to 1pm.
Epilepsy Clinic
The persons with epilepsy who are drug refractory for anti-seizure medications are provided comprehensive evaluation. Our centre has a state of art 128 and 64 channel VEEG monitoring unit with dedicated faculty for the evaluation of such persons with epilepsy. The video monitoring helps in recording and identifying seizure types and also the onset of seizures electrographically. This helps in planning for epilepsy surgery. As part of evaluation patients are also offered investigations like MRI brain, PET CT brain, Neuropsychological assessment. Rarely in person in whom it’s difficult to lateralise or localise seizure onset, for such individuals depth electrodes are implanted and video EEG is done. Once the evaluation is done, a epilepsy surgery meeting is done to discuss about the approaches for the management.
Parkinson’s disease & Movement Disorders Clinic
Individuals with Parkinson’s disease and all types of movement disorders are evaluated by movement disorder specialist for expert evaluation and treatment. We have state of the art imaging facilities which aids in diagnosis of the various movement disorders along with laboratory support for blood tests. We also offer innovative treatments like Botox injections for various movement disorders and Deep brain stimulation for the management of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders.
Stroke Clinic
This clinic provides much needed comprehensive care to patients who had a transient weakness or those who are recovering from weakness of limbs due to stroke. Patients are regularly followed up in stroke clinics for secondary prevention of stroke and also for comprehensive rehabilitation for the improvement of the disabilities consequent to stroke. We also provide treatment like thrombolysis and interventional procedures for the management of acute stroke.
