The Department of Orthopaedics in MS Ramaiah hospitals is considered one of the top 5, according to city rankings. It is one of the oldest Orthopaedic Department, in the state of Karnataka.
The department per se had humble beginnings in the early 80’s. Presently, it has spread its wings and has a comprehensive variety of sub specialties, covering every aspect of Orthopaedic mangement. The department consists of a number of best in the field surgeons who are trained from some of the most prestigious institutions from places such as Europe, America and other parts of Asia, who cover all the possible sub-specialties that are present in the field of Orthopaedics. The faculty have multiple papers published in indexed journals. The Department conducts regular CME’s, Conferences and workshops, at both state and national levels.
The department has state-of-the-art modern facilities, technology and is a magnet for residents from all over the country. We have a unique and dedicated PG teaching program, with emphasis on acquiring both surgical skills and a research-oriented mindset. From decades the Orthopaedics department has been providing a platform, for the best post-graduates in the field who have gone on to make a name for themselves not only in the country, but even worldwide.

The department has a wide and spacious out-patient area which caters to all who walk in, and is supported by the physiotherapy department who aid in the rehabilitation of the patients and assist them in getting back to their normal state of living. The hospital consists of state-of-the art laminar flow operating rooms, with all the equipment and facilities needed for the broad variety of surgeries that are carried out on a day-to-day basis.

The Department of Orthopaedics at our institution has been at the forefront of teaching and service from its inception. A very strong foundation was laid by the pioneers and the legacy carries on. The focus from the beginning being ‘none of us is as strong as of all of us’ has led to a department which employs a multitude of innovative teaching learning methods utilizing the strengths of each member of the team and this has led to a significant number of our post graduate students excelling in all walks of life.
