The Department of Orthopaedics at our institution has been at the forefront of teaching and service from its inception

A very strong foundation was laid by the pioneers and the legacy carries on. The focus from the beginning being ‘none of us is as strong as of all of us’ has led to a department which employs a multitude of innovative teaching learning methods utilizing the strengths of each member of the team and this has led to a significant number of our post graduate students excelling in all walks of life. A very friendly environment for learning, be it in the classroom or at the bedside has ensured that students have a sound understanding of the subject and then build on it. An environment conducive to learning and research is what the department offers.

The department also focuses on service to humanity and to ensure that the best and advanced care is provided to the one seeking it, encourages specialization in services – be it joint replacement surgery or arthroscopic (key hole) surgery, every possible Orthopaedic surgery currently being performed in the world is being performed here in the institution by the Doctors. The accompanying profiles of all the faculty members are a witness to the multitude of opportunities one has in the department of Orthopaedics.

The department of orthopaedics at M S Ramaiah teaching hospital is well equipped with a spacious out patient department space, able to heed to every patient’s chores and complaints. We’re also equipped with a seminar hall and a department library with the greatest and the latest edition text books in order to tend to the young and the nurturing young minds.

The demonstration room in our department and wards is quite frequently used to provide practical classes to all under graduates and post graduates in order to sharpen their clinical skills and understanding of the subject. We have a dedicated advanced learning centre where in the undergraduates and post graduates are exposed to simulated arthroscopy demos, orthopedic instruments hands on and saw bone models

We also have a state of the art Artificial limb centre which specialises in making custom fit Orthotics and prosthetics
