The department of pediatrics in Ramaiah has three decades history of providing the best clinical care to the children.

The department started with three faculties and grown over the years with around 20 faculty at present. We have four units in the department with very well trained staff in each of the units. We have state of art NICU level III A and PICU facilities. Paediatric general wards are well equipped with 160 beds. Apart from these we have various pediatric sub specialty clinics like pediatric pulmonology, Genetics, Rheumatology, developmental pediatrics, paediatric Epilepsy clinic, nephrology,adolescent clinic, high risk newborn, well baby clinic, Asthma clinics, Thalassemia clinic, Immunisation, run on different days of the week headed by our faculty trained in respective sub specialties. Our faculty holds important positions in various bodies of national and state importance.

Since inception our department has been vigorously training undergraduates, postgraduates and fellowship trainees. Postgraduate education started in the year 1991 with 2 Post graduate students and presently 18 postgraduates per year are being admitted to the course. Fellowship in neonatology started in the year 2008 with two trainees per year and PICU fellowship was started in 2018. We have Advanced Learning Centre at M S Ramaiah where we train our undergraduates, postgraduates in various hands on training skills like neonatal resuscitation, pediatric advanced life support skills etc. We also conduct various activities like breast feeding week, adolescent week , Interdepartmental activities, regular CMEs and conferences in association with IAP and various other bodies.

Research activities have been an integral part of department since its inception. Post graduates, undergraduates are actively involved in research activities under the able guidance of our faculty.

We provide highest quality clinical care for children and teens through our clinical facilities, scientific research, and training the next generation of leaders in paediatrics. The diversity of our team members serves as the foundation for innovation and discovery.
