Department of Physiology

Human Physiology forms a vital part of the curriculum for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by us at the Ramaiah Medical College, Bengaluru, under the umbrella of RUAS. With a long standing tradition of excellence, we at the Department, impart an integrated approach to health and understanding of human diseases, with research at basic and advanced levels.

Facilities

Physiology is fundamental science of life. It is the branch of medicine that aims to understand the mechanisms of living things, from the basis of cell function at the ionic and molecular level to the integrated behaviour of the whole body and the influence of the external environment.

Neuro Physiology Laboratory

The Department of Physiology has a well-equipped and active Neuro Physiology Laboratory which befits the teachings and research activities for Undergraduates, Postgraduates and PhD scholars, and for collaborative research.

Autonomic Functions Laboratory

The cardiac autonomic function testing started in the Department of Physiology from 2016 onwards

Computer Assisted Learning Laboratory

It is available for amphibian and mammalian experiments. This is beneficial for teaching and learning through simulated techniques for undergraduates and postgraduate students.

Haematology, Human and Clinical Laboratories

These laboratories are fully equipped with upgraded instruments (ECG, Treadmill etc.) and ICT facilities like LED monitors with internet connection. The students are well trained and equipped with the ability to examine the patients and interpret reports, their skills are further enhanced by getting trained at the Advanced Learning Centre.
