Department of Radiation Oncology took form in 1998 with Telecobalt machine and that’s when we started aiming at excellence in every aspect. The climb has been fruitful but we continue to yearn for newer goals and will excel in it.Radiation oncology department caters to different sections of the society equally and to tailor the plan of care for each patient multidisciplinary tumor board meetings are held on a regular basis involving medical, surgical oncologist, radiologist etc. The department also conducts follow up clinics, rehabilitation activities, screening clinics and cancer support groups for cancer patients.

Radiation oncology is a medical speciality that uses high-energy radiation to damage the DNA of cancer cells and prevent them from dividing and growing. Radiation therapy or radiotherapy is the term used to describe the actual treatment provided to the cancer patient by the radiation oncology team. Radiation therapy uses carefully targeted and regulated doses of high-energy radiation to kill cancer cells.
