Dr Ajoy S M is currently working in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Ramaiah Medical College and attached hospitals and is a Senior Consultant providing Foot and Ankle Services. After completion of MBBS and Post Graduate Diploma in Orthopaedics from the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, and DNB from National Board of Examinations, he has worked in various capacities in hospitals ranging from charitable to corporate. A Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction from the NUH Singapore, a four-year stint in tertiary care hospital in MOH, Oman, and the KOA traveling fellowship in UK and Foot and ankle fellowship with Prof Hintermann in Switzerland and Dr Michael Coughlin in USA formed part of his training and experience.
He completed a Diploma in Tissue Banking from the University of Barcelona and has keen interest in the new field of Tissue Banking and is associated with the Ramaiah Tissue Bank as its co-ordinator and Quality Control Officer since its inception in 2012. He has been recognised as a Post Graduate Teacher by the Rajiv Gandhi Health University (Karnataka State with 54 medical colleges) since 2017 and as a PhD Supervisor since 2021 (by the RUAS).
e has completed the AO Basic, Advanced and Lower Extremity Master’s Course (Davos) and is Faculty for the AO and its Alliance Foundation. He has also been a faculty in more than 150 regional, national and international courses, with more than 250 presentations and has been the Organising Chairman for 8 Foot and Ankle Cadaver based courses, including the 6th Annual Parekh Indo US Foot and Ankle Course. He has been the Course Co-Director for the prestigious overseas BOFAS course thrice. He has authored 14 publications including 2 book chapters. He is currently the Associate Editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (Asia Pacific). He was elected as an EC member of the IFAS and was heading the research wing in 2017-18.
He is the past Hon. Secretary of the Indian Foot and Ankle Society (2018-20) and the past Secretary of the Bangalore Orthopedic Society (2019-20). He has been nominated as an EC member of the Indian Orthopedic Association for 2022. He is the current Scientific Chairman of the IFAS for year 2022-23 and the Scientific Chairman of the IFASCON 2023 to be held at Nagpur.
