Dr Harshavardhan Rao is a senior consultant and professor of Gastroenterology at Ramaiah Memorial hospital. He completed his DM Gastroenterology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi following which he has a university fellowship in Advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He is an expert at endoscopic interventions like Endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP) and diagnostic/therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound(EUS) mainly done for pancreatic and biliary disorders. In addition he has vast experience with pancreatic diseases and runs a specialty pancreas clinic.
Dr Harshavardhan is also involved with research in collaboration with multiple universities including University of Illinois, Indian Institute of Medical sciences, Amrita Institute of medical sciences and Loyola school of medicine, Chicago. Hos research work is varied and involves clinical, public heath as well as translational studies. He enjoys teaching and is a guide for DM Gastroenterology students as well as PhD students in various disciplines. His research work helps him keep himself updated on all recent developments in the field and enables the seamless translation of new modalities of diagnosis and therapy in everyday practice of Gastroenterology.
