Dr Prarthana Karumbaiah K is a Pediatrician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics with 16 years experience in the field. She is trained in Neonatology, General pediatrics, Critical care, Behavioural pediatrics and Adolescent medicine. After completing her MD Pediatrics, she completed her Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioural Pediatrics under the aegis of Indian Academy of Pediatrics. She is trained in Prechtl’s general movement assessment to detect abnormalities in development in newborns as early as 34 weeks. She is trained in assessing developmental delays in children(BAILEY and DASII at KEM,Pune). She is a certified play therapist for children with special needs by the National Association of Play therapy India. Along with General pediatrics, her special interest is in early detection and intervention of children and adolescents with development and behavioural problems like Habit and regulatory disorders, Autism, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders, Developmental delay, NDDs, conduct disorders, specific learning disabilities and other behavioural problems in children and adolescents. She is interested in child nutrition and parenting as well.
