Dr Veena Vidya Shankar, Associate professor in the Department of Anatomy, joined the institution in 2008 as lecturer. She is a graduate from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru and has completed her post-graduation from Ramaiah Medical College with 5th rank for the state. She has more than twenty research publications to her credit in indexed regional, National and International journals. She has presented several research papers in regional, national and international conferences. She has delivered many academic guest lectures in CME’s and conferences.
She has guided many UG student research projects one of which bagged the best UG paper presentation award in the year 2015 at the 17th Karnataka Chapter of Anatomists held at Siddhartha Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Tumkur.
She is the Co-Ordinator for voluntary body donation program at the institute; actively involved in smooth functioning of this program. Organizing committee member of ‘ABHINANDANA’ program which is a thanksgiving get together for voluntary body donors. Takes initiative in logistics and coordination during the organization of Abhinandana. She has delivered many awareness talks on Voluntary body donation program.
She was nominated as NAAC coordinator for Anatomy Department - As the Departmental NAAC coordinator - actively involved in the NAAC accreditation work since 2010. Based on the NAAC manuals, revisions, upgradations, regular conduct of meetings for NAAC, filing according to different criteria is done; is an active member of the NAAC committee of the institution.
She has actively participated as the organizing committee member in the National CME – ‘Anatomy – Beyond the Horizon’ and National workshop on ‘Model making- Bridging anatomy and Art’ organized by the Department of Anatomy. She has taught Neuro-Anatomy to 12th standard students for three consecutive years from National Public School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore, who competed from India at International ‘Brain-bee’ competition & also won in the competition.
