The department was started in the year 1984. The postgraduate training program commenced in the year 2000.
‘Look good, feel good’ has been the driving force of society since time immemorial, from even before the time of Cleopatra. In our country, reference to this can be found in our ancient mythology too!
Skin is the largest organ in the human body and dermatology deals with all aspects of skin health.
Besides this subject, the maintenance and enhancement of youthful looks of the skin and hair is a very important and contemporary part of dermatology today.
Ramaiah Medical College Hospital has a vibrant Dermatology department with Eminent teaching faculty having several years of academic experience and competent enough in managing the complicated and challenging cases, as also in advising people on their skin health and addressing their cosmetic concerns. Several dermato-surgical and cosmetic procedures are undertaken by expert qualified faculty

The department of dermatology has a dedicated team that is committed to provide excellent care for both outpatients as well as inpatients. The department manages all disorders relating to the skin, hair and nails including cosmetology problems. Experienced and well-trained specialists are available to treat even the complicated and chronic problems.
The therapeutic services include outpatient & inpatient management along with counseling regarding proper skin care. We have a well-established and well equipped minor OT with state of the art electrosurgical and dermatosurgical instruments including laser. Our facultuy are trained in aesthetic procedures and contemporary dermato surgery.
