The Department is Functional since 2000 as Chest Medicine.
Pulmonology one of the vital specialties of Respiratory Medicine that deals with diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract
Ramaiah Medical College is one of the first private medical colleges in Bangalore practicing modern interventional pulmonology procedures.
Overseas Undergraduate Medical students are being posted on regular basis to undergo training in the department. Faculty is involved in Clinical research at national and multicentre (International) levels. We have over 65 international and national level presentations of faculty and students.

- Pulmonology, the branch that deals with diseases of the respiratory tract (Lungs) is one of the vital specialities.
- The department of Pulmonology is well equipped with Outpatient and Inpatient facilities to diagnose and treat respiratory related problems. Consultants are Academicians with vast experience in the field of Pulmonology.
- Department is actively involved in Under graduate teaching and has MD in Respiratory Medicine (3 years) programme
- We constantly upgrade our skills by attending workshops and conferences.
- We have participated as faculty in national and state level conferences
- Published papers in peer reviewed National and International journals and actively involved in state level post graduate teaching programmes

- One of the Designated Microscopic Centers under NTEP for Tuberculosis Diagnostics and treatment

Training
- Both Undergraduates and Postgraduates Medical (MD – Respiratory Medicine) students undergo training in the department.
- Post-graduation program was permitted from 2011 with 1 seat per year. Currently 4 Post graduate students are admitted annually
