Department of Medical Oncology, Haematology and Bone Marrow

A super-specialty department that treats cancer and blood disorders and perfoms Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Hormonal Therapy, Targeted Therapy and bone marrow transplant to treat these disorders in a comprehensive and holistic manner.

We work as a team towards preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer and blood disorders by offering the most advanced and evidence-based treatment protocols and customized multi-modality therapies.

By understanding cancer development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, we strive to achieve excellence in all the vital aspects of patient care which include cure, pain palliation, improving or maintaining the quality of life and life prolongation.

Our oncologists coordinate the multidisciplinary care of cancer patients by involving physiotherapy, counselling, and clinical genetics with a multi- pronged approach including modalities such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

In collaboration with the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, the department has created a state of the art Hematopoietic stem cell transplant and Cellular therapy unit with an advanced level Stem cell facility run by trained Transfusion Medicine physicians, apheresis machines, advanced lab equipments, HEPA filtered treatment rooms and the expertise of a dedicated hematopathologist.

Apart from its focus on academics, the department is known for its involvement in the inter-departmental Tumour Board (Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Gynaecologic Oncology, Pathology and Medical Oncology) and Haematology Board (Paediatrics, Pathology and Medical Oncology).
