
Department of Urology
The department of Urology is one of the busiest departments on campus
and has the distinction of performing the maximum number of surgical procedures compared to all other surgical branches at the Ramaiah Group of hospitals.
Nearly 18000 patients visit our outpatient clinic every year and nearly 3500 inpatients are cared for in the inpatient wards.
The faculty perform nearly 3000 Urology operations annually using cutting edge technology. Constant innovation and staying relevant to the changing times and practices is the DNA of our department. To this end, we are blessed with incredible, top class faculty, who strive perpetually to achieve the above goals.

Patient care & facilities
The department of Urology is actively involved in all subspecialties of Urology like: Endourology, Uro-oncology, Andrology and Male Infertility, Reconstructive Urology, Female and Functional Urology, Pediatric Urology, Renal Transplant and Robotic Urology.
The Urology operative rooms are equipped with state of the art flexible endoscopes, HD monitors, C arm fluoroscopy, Thulium and Holmium lasers. The highlight is the Da Vinci X surgical robotic system. We also have a Urodynamics suite and dedicated high end USG machine with facility for Trans rectal Prostate biopsy.
The sheer volume of clinical work and hands on surgical exposure have consistently attracted post graduate trainees from all over the country. We also have the Dornier Delta Lithotripsy machine Both live related kidney transplant as well as cadaver renal transplant is regularly performed. The department is well known throughout the country for the excellent hands-on-training provided to post graduates in all subspecialties as well as robotic surgery.

Service
- Regular conduct of free Urology camps.
- National Live operative workshop on Retrograde Intrarenal surgery conducted in June 2019.
- Regular hands on cadaver workshops conducted (laparoscopy and reconstructive urology).
Training Program
The MCh. Urology program was started in 2008, with one seat and has grown exponentially to the current strength of 6 MCh seats per year (through NEET). 25 Urologists have been trained till date, 3 of whom have received University Gold medals, 4 alumni hold faculty positions in medical colleges and one received Best outgoing student in South Zone (2018).
We run a robust academic program consisting of seminars, journal club, case presentations, inter departmental conferences like uro-onco, uro path, hands-on training, cadaver surgical training etc to name a few. Post graduates are encouraged to do clinical trials and research and take active part in zonal and national conferences.
All the faculty are trained in medical education.
