Cancer Screening - Mobile Van For Cancer Detection

A Ray Of Hope

Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bengaluru, inaugurated a cancer detection mobile van - AAVYA on July 24. This comprehensive mobile unit consists of an ECG, X-ray facility, Mammography unit, Colposcopy unit, and Laryngoscopy unit. Medical professionals provide provisions for the examination of benign and malignant lesions of the oral cavity, dental evaluation, breast examination, and head and neck evaluation. Facilities like tele-reporting of the investigations done, like PAP smears and other screening tests can be accomplished with ease and thus prevent or catch the cancers at the earliest. Dr. Harish K, Associate Dean, Ramaiah Medical College & Hospital, is the project coordinator. Housed under Ramaiah Sahaya Kendra (RSK).

Rtn. Srinivas Murthy, District Governor - RI Dist 3192, was the chief guest for the program. Dr. M R Jayaram, Chairman, Gokula Education Foundation & Chancellor, RUAS, MR Sreenivasa Murthy, Chief Executive, Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), Rtn. Jeetendra Aneja, IPDG-RI Dist 3190, Rtn. Dr. Milind Deshpande, Managing Director of Vishal Infrastructure Ltd, and others were part of the function.

As of now Jan 2024, we have conducted 33 camps all over Karnataka, Andra Prasad & some parts of Tamil Nadu screened more than 8,000 patients and in that, we have detected more than 500 cancer patients and treated in our Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital under AB-RK, ESI, Cash, for financially poor patients free of cost.
